All western toilets here have a spray option next to them. This is by far the most luxe version I have seen. Even has a drain in the floor to keep allow the water to seep away. I now understand why so many of the toilets have had wet tiles. Nevertheless, I have been stumped as to how to dry off after spraying. Bring paper towels into the stall? I still don't have a good answer, but being poolside and already having a wet bottom, this became a lovely alternative to soggy toilet paper. (My friend suggested the sprayer was to clean the floor!).

It seems incongruous to be in a hotel with a living space twice the size of my apartment in New York City and a bathroom like this when the streets are filled with pilgrims who have come to pray at the temples and palaces of the Dahli Lama. Buddhist belief binds all strata of people here. Many are dressed traditionally and some in their nomadic garb. iPhones abound however.

Oddly there is quite a lot of prickly pear cactus in southern Italy. This sample was not sufficient to provide cover, but serves my posting purposes. I was also offered a piece of the fruit at a roadside stand en route this morning. Big, hard seeds. I suggest juicing it.

I was not going to post from this airport, but the fact that my flight has been delayed by an hour, giving me plenty of being bored time, and that this is the second airport toilet flusher that is broken, I felt I must. The last one was missing the unit altogether. This one feel into the wall when I pushed it.

I have seen waterfall faucets before, but never one that glowed. Over priced buffet breakfast at this 4 star hotel. Feeling better about it now that I have had this restroom experience and they took my postcards to mail for me.

I am 5'6" and I had to reach for this paper towel dispenser. What are the short people supposed to do? Thanks to my daughter in law for bringing me to see the opera Anna Nicole Smith. Think it has been an iconic, if rather depressing, experience. The audience certainly is going wild for it.

Peeling restroom signs are not that unusual, but the look if this one could have been enough to dissuade me from eating here. What a shame that would have been. Despite its disguise as a lowly local dive, it was one of the best breakfasts ever. I totally indulged in veggie has browns with a soft booked egg. Oh, did I forget to mention that the restroom was in the back of the kitchen and the sink was actually in the kitchen. Got to watch the chef at his griddle while drying my hands.

I have never seen a toilet seat with a built in handle for raising it. Has it always been there and I am just now noticing it or is it a recent addition? And why would you need this in a women only restroom?

Who ever heard of a theater with a one stall restroom? And what's with the saloon style stall door? While the facilities might be odd, I can highly recommend the performance by Nathan Lane in The Nance. A terrific play and all around good cast.
