Not many cabins in the woods are as creatively adapted and decorated as this. Very little has been done to change the character from its original use as a hunting shelter for 4 guys.Shows what a female decorator can do for herself. I would never have thought to have a carved mask next to an old stall shower. Dinner was pretty swell as well.

Latanzi: Manhattan, NY

I am becoming a bit obsessed with how extra rolls of toilet paper are stacked. This seems practical, yet elegant given the marble shelf and the Italian tiles. This is my brother's go to restaurant before the theater. Dinner was fine, but the lemon ice, served in a frozen lemon rind, was awesome.

Maimi’s Cafe: Roxbury, CT

I loved this combination high on the wall of the restroom of this quaint cafe. Can you imagine entering a 3 holer? Talk about a lack of privacy. Everything about this cafe was charming from the local antique farm equipments and signs used as decor to the heavy, slightly rusted urns used to hold sweetners to the old metal-caged string of lights on the deck to the fact that the owner gave us an avacado to take home for the soup we were preparing for dinner. Well, my friends do go there every weekend for a meal, but still...

This is not the entrance to the restroom, but an ornamental curiosity on the inside of the door. Doubious decorating, but the renovating interior overall was pleasing as was the dinner. A nice addition to the dining options of this city.

Public Theater: Manhattan

This was the first of several visits to the restroom as I was at the theater to see Gatz, a complete dramatic reading of The Great Gatsby. It lasted for 8 hours including intermissions and a break for dinner. I bailed after the last intermission. Ingenious concept, well directed and quite entertaining... to a point. 11pm is past my bedtime these days.

You can only get the tiniest clue of the colors in this house from this shot of her powderroom.  She is a documentary filmmaker and the dinner she threw for me included a sculptress who was in the Venice Bienalle, an art collector, a writer and an art consultant.  My kind of group.

Bee and Thistle Inn: Old Lyme, CT

My first experience of stained glass as an art object in a rest room. I remember the old days when we went here for the outstanding scones- served only at dinner for some odd reason- and to sit at a table in front of the one fireplace on a cold winter's evening. It was never more charming as it is nowadays with multiple fireplaces and dining options. The cosiest of places and with consistently good food as well.

Gzen: Branford, CT

There was nothing about this vegan restaurant that felt aisan or zenlike except the name and this statue in the restroom. Must be something going on I was not aware of. This space used to be a place called "Suburban" which I thought was excellent and I was disappointed when it closed. This is an equally good substitute and the only vegan restaurant I know of along the shoreline. Not a place for a light dinner necessarily. I came away stuffed.  Terrific organic wines as well as food.

Orso: Manhattan

This is one of my favorite pre or post theater restaurants. I have had many a delicious meal and seen many a lucious star here. Better be brushed up on your Roman heros however or you might end up in the wron rest room.  Hint: Women should enter the door with Medus'a head.

Simply elegant.  And the informal dinner for three in front of the fire was just delicious and what winter is all about.
