Uncle Nick’s: Manhattan

Posted in Commercial Space, Decor |

I believe they are going for a weathered Greek look here. The non-descript exterior and rather plain interior of this restaurant belies the authenticity of the food. This ws simply some of the best and freshest Greek food I have ever had. Glad it is on 29th and 8th, so not too far from my apartment. I will be back.

Union Station: New Haven, CT

I haven't seen this much graffitti on a stall door in a long time. Haven't been taking the train from New Haven for a while it seems. Poor Mikolinski.

Modern art, modern handle. See the Cynde Sherman retrospective. Admire the work and be glad you don't live in her head.

Gallery Hemachromatosis: Manhattan

Not the usual restroom notice about where to throw the towels. Although Duchamp displayed a toilet as a piece of art, this gallery prefers to keep theirs behind a closed door.

This is what I call HARDware.  Felt perfectly safe in this stall.  Not that this was in any way a shakey location.  Very elegant and delicious in the heart of the downtown

Nor will the dinner be here. You can, however, date this inn by the hardware on the restroom.

The Stockton Inn: New Hope, PA

What is there to say? A solid wood door with a solid wood sign.  Why am I in PA?  My son is getting married in the fall and the wedding will be in New Hope.  We were scouting locations for the rehearsal dinner.  It will not be here.

Whitney Museum: New York

Have no idea what I thought was interesting about this sign. My brain must have been addled by all the mind boggling art I saw at the Bienniel... not.  There are always interesting works in this show and there are always ones that miss the mark.  That's the point of the show.  This is a better than many year.

Cane Garden Bay: Tortola

Half the toilets in this public restroom were bolted.  Who knows why. The rest were close to unusable, but I managed. Went to find the newly opened recycled glass blowing shop, but of course it was closed since it was Sunday.  Found a few of their items at the Myett's resort - I use this term loosely- shop on the beach.  Brought back a pumpkin for the Thanksgiving table.

American Wing, Metropolitan Museum: Manhattan

A beautiful restroom which reflects the sumptuous new American wing itself.  This is more like what I would have expected in the Member's Dining Room.
